Learn the effective methods to create and use KornShell and Bourne Again SHell (bash) scripts and utilities for AIX. Shell scripts are often the key to becoming a productive administrator on AIX and Linux systems. Learn to write simple programs to demonstrate your grasp of writing shell scripts. Complete extensive hands-on machine exercises.

Basic programming concepts are not taught in this course.

You should complete:

AIX 5L Basics (AU130) or (Q1323) or
Linux Basics and Installation (LX020) or (QLX02) or
Linux Basics and Installation (self-paced virtual class) (QLXA2) or
Linux Basics and Installation - Lite (self-paced virtual class) (QLXL3)
or understand the programming fundamentals of variables and flow control concepts, such as repetition and decision,
or have working knowledge of UNIX or Linux, including the use of the vi editor, manipulating files and directories, basic variables, piping and redirection, and the find and grep commands.
