Note: This course IS NOT appropriate for individuals without any prior knowledge of AIX/ HACMP. This is an advanced course meant for experienced HACMP administrators. It is strongly recommended that all Individuals who enroll in this course have at least attended HACMP Administration I: Planning and Implementation (AU540) or (Q1554) or have a similar level of experience.

This is an advanced course for experienced AIX system administrators and support individuals who are responsible for the administration, maintenance and implementation of HACMP clusters on IBM System p systems running AIX. The course is appropriate for:

Individuals who want to learn the new features with HACMP V5
Individuals who wish to learn about how to implement HACMP in complex configurations
Individuals who wish to prepare for the IBM eServer Certified Systems Expert - pSeries HACMP for AIX 5L certification
Technical leaders who design HACMP clustering solutions


 
prerequisites
 
 
You should have experience installing and performing standard HACMP configuration functions, which can be obtained through the following course (or equivalent experience):

HACMP System Administration I: Planning and Implementation (Mandatory) (AU540) or (Q1554)
You should also have experience with:
The AIX 5L operating system. Ideally, students should be certified to level IBM Certified Specialist - pSeries Administration and Support for AIX 5L V5.3 (Test 222) or equivalent.
The IBM server hardware they are using
The principles of good system management
CP/IP Communications Concepts and Tools. These skills can be obtained in AIX 5L TCP/IP I: Configuration (AU070) or AIX 5L: Configuring TCP/IP (Q1307)
LVM Concepts and Configuration. These skills can be obtained in:
AIX 5L System Administration I: Implementation (AU140) or (Q1314)
AIX 5L System Administration II: Problem Determination (AU160) or (Q1316)
AIX 5L System Administration IV: Storage Management (AU200) or (Q1320)
Knowledge of an external shared disk environment such as SCSI, Serial Storage Architecture (SSA) or FC disk subsystems. These skills can be obtained in:
AIX 5L System Administration IV: Storage Management (AU200) or (Q1320)
HACMP System Administration I: Planning and Implementation (AU540) or (Q1554)
Korn Shell script programming
