Learn how to monitor and tune DB2 UDB for z/OS and OS/390, Version 7 from a system programmer point of view. Begin with some background on address spaces, Central Processing Unit (CPU) considerations, and threads. Continue with descriptions of the DB2 Instrumentation Facility module, DB2 workloads, and how different types of processing are reflected on the basic reports. Also, explore available operating system tuning opportunities plus monitoring techniques to allow tuning of DB2's locking mechanism and DB2 attachments. 	DB2 instrumentation facility

	set up and handle DB2 traces for both continuous monitoring and for problem analysis
	relate when to start with statistics or with accounting reports, depending on the situation
	decide how to monitor and tune in your environment
	discuss basic principles of reading and understanding monitor reports

	DB2 workload

	describe how various types of processing are reflected on the reports
