This course applies to iSeries, AS/400e, and AS/400 systems.

SQL is a very powerful programming and database language that is widely used in business today. For example, SQL can be used to perform interactive database queries as well as to extract data from a server and pass that data to a Java applet running on a client PC. SQL is frequently used in AS/400 high level languages as an alternate means to access the database. Learn how to access AS/400 database files using SQL. Learn how to create, maintain, and query the database using the interactive SQL interface and Operations Navigator.

Experienced AS/400 programmers and very skilled AS/400 users who want to learn how to use the SQL as a means to access the DB2 UDB for iSeries database.

This course is not recommended for users who need to perform simple queries. Query/400 is an end user oriented tool designed for this purpose. Learn about Query/400 by completing:

or have equivalent experience, including the skills to:

? Explain the use of the data types supported by the OS/400 database

To learn about the iSeries database features and functions, you should complete:

AS/400 users who want to attend this course may not have a broad programming background. However, some experience in programming facilitates your learning experience.
