The Sun Secure Global Desktop Software (Secure Global Desktop) Configuration and Administration course is for students who need to understand the Sun Secure Global Desktop Software product and perform routine administration tasks on a daily basis. Familiarity with the X Window System (an advantage)

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

Understand the Secure Global Desktop product architecture and how it fits within an organizations network
Install, upgrade and license Secure Global Desktop, including its optional components
Log in to and log out of Secure Global Desktop, and access applications from a webtop
Use administration tools to make configuration changes
Configure objects representing an organizations applications, documents, users, hosts, and groups in the Secure Global Desktop system, and arrange them in an appropriate hierarchy using organizational units
Provide access to an organizations Windows, UNIX, Linux, AS/400, and Mainframe applications, including support for printing
Determine how users are authenticated, and integrate Secure Global Desktop with an organizations authentication mechanisms
Provide users with SSL-based secure connections and integrate with an organizations firewalls and proxy servers
Integrate with an organizations Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) based directory server
Scale Secure Global Desktop up to support more users using arrays and load balancing
