This course provides an introduction to the UniVerse extended relational database environment. Learn about the tools and commands used to input data into storage files, modify data records, and extract the records to produce and print reports. Build a sample database file, including data input through the editor and reporting using the RetrieVe processor. Explore UniVerse commands that perform ad hoc queries, generate and print reports, and create paragraphs to gather or report business information. This course is the classroom delivered version of 3U800 Instructor Led Online course. This course replaces course UV900.

  LIST statement: Introduction to RETRIEVE

Determine how many records are in a file
Practice command statement basics
Locate and identify field names
Simplify entering statements using the command stack commands
Select criteria with which to create a report
Sort a file by any field you choose
Display the fields you want to see
Use the SEARCH and ESEARCH commands to probe for text within a file

List the words in VOC
Explore how words, files, sentences and paragraphs are stored in VOC
Understand command processing
Use the Editor to create your own words and sentences in VOC




  DICTionaries

Display the contents of any DICT file and understand how each field is defined
Create your own DICTionary and data files

Convert a field to all upper case for more accurate searches
Use the REUSE function to perform a function across a dynamic array
