This course provides analysis training in business process management (BPM) using IBM's business integration software. BPM helps businesses define, standardize, and implement solutions that meet strategic business goals, and create measures to manage the company's financial and operational performance. IBM's business integration software provides an organization with runtime access to business process information, enabling quick, informed responses to market pressures and competitive threats.
IBM WebSphere Business Modeler's Business Measures View (BMV) provides WebSphere Business Monitor with the capability to record business process instance performance metrics during WebSphere Process Server's runtime execution. IBM DB2, WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Process Server, WebSphere Integration Developer, and WebSphere Portal Server provide the development and runtime platform for WebSphere Business Monitor.
Throughout this three-day course, students perform hands-on exercises to improve their understanding of WebSphere Business Modeler, WebSphere Business Monitor Server, and Monitor dashboards. These exercises give students the opportunity to identify and model business measures in a process model using Modeler's BMV, modify process models in WebSphere Business Modeler that are deployed in WebSphere Process Server runtime, and monitor using WebSphere Business Monitor. Students also update WebSphere Business Modeler's process model with actual data from Monitor for use in goal analysis.
During the lectures, students also use the products to gain experience with the tools and products discussed in class. This experience demonstrates the value of these products to an enterprise, and helps students develop a solid background on the uses and benefits of business measures.
For a complete, in-depth discussion of process integration using IBM WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere Integration Developer, see course WB111/VB111, Integrating Using IBM WebSphere Integration Developer and Process Server I. For a technical course on the installation and configuration of WebSphere Business Monitor, see course WB190, Implementing IBM WebSphere Business Monitor. IT professionals who have completed WB190 should be able to support business professionals who have completed WB189 or VB189. |
