Are you a Java developer, who knows the basics of Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) development and wants to move to the next level? This course is for you.

Learn to design J2EE e-business applications. In particular, investigate patterns and antipatterns, including the IBM patterns for e-business. Use appropriate diagrams from the Unified Modeling Language (UML). Discuss WebSphere security considerations. Also, explore the factors to take into account when designing an application where the presentation, controller, model, application business rules, and persistence layers are loosely coupled. Analyze a complex case study to understand design tradeoffs. Complete both Personal Computer (PC)-based and small-group exercises.

Programmers, designers, and architects who have some experience with J2EE development. The skills needed are those provided by courses WF311/WF317 and WF351/WF357, XM301/XM307 and parts of JA361.

	Advanced Java Programming with Distributed Objects (JA361)
	Introduction to XML and Related Technologies (XM301) or
	Introduction to XML and Related Technologies (self-paced virtual class) (XM307)
	OR have equivalent experience.
