This 3-day instructor-led course teaches administrators and z/Series systems programmers the skills they need to administer IBM WebSphere Message Broker V6 on the z/Series platform. You will create, configure, and deploy message flows utilizing the Eclipse based broker toolkit. Your teams will also install and test plug-in enhancements that extend the capabilities of the IBM WebSphere Message Broker product.

  • Describe the architecture of IBM WebSphere Message Broker V6

  • Provide a detailed description of the major functions of a z/Series broker

  • Provide an overview of UNIX System Services (USS) and explain its role in the Message Broker for z/Series environment

  • Explain the steps necessary to plan the installation of IBM WebSphere Message Broker V6 on z/Series, including the necessary hardware and software prerequisites

  • Describe the steps necessary to set up IBM WebSphere Message Broker V6 on z/Series

 

  • Explain in detail the customization and tailoring required to configure a broker, a configuration manager, and optionally a user name server on z/Series

  • Use the necessary tools to successfully operate a message broker, including utilities and problem determination aids

  • Define basic backup and recovery procedures

  • Use the message broker workbench to perform administrative tasks

  This is an advanced course is for administrators and system programmers who work with WebSphere Message Broker V6.

Prerequisites
  This course assumes knowledge of IBM WebSphere MQ on z/Series. You should also be reasonably familiar with the operating system environment and should be able to invoke simple functions within that environment during the hands-on exercises. A basic knowledge of Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF), Time Sharing Option (TSO), System Display and Search Facility (SDSF), and UNIX System Services (USS) is advantageous.
