| The Java Composite Application Platform Suite contains the Java integration products and technologies from Sun's acquisition of SeeBeyond, known for its focus on "pragmatic SOA" and for its leadership in ease of use in software development.
Integrated with the SeeBeyond products are several of the essential runtime products from the Sun Java Enterprise System: Application Server, Portal Server, Directory Server, and Access Manager. Java CAPS also includes Sun's mature and award-winning integrated development environments (IDEs): Sun Java Studio Enterprise and Sun Java Studio Creator.
The Suite is built upon J2EE and Web services, and uses a certified J2EE application server, taking advantage of both standard J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA) and Sun's own range of adapters. The Suite uses a single open repository that stores all metadata for the system, including processes, objects, services, applications, and transformations, and it exposes all integration points as web services, with Java or XSLT used for transformations. |

| How Does Java CAPS Help You as a Developer? |
| In traditional enterprise application development, you are often confronted with "gluing together" individual point solutions, products, and technologies. This typically requires a great deal of expertise and time, and the model is relatively inflexible.
With Java CAPS you get a complete and integrated development environment in which to design, develop, test, and deploy your composite applications. For example, you can quickly develop the presentation layers of your applications, linking both people and services to the identity and access management layer. The Java CAPS architecture fosters the creation of well-defined and reusable services, speeding development and easing the maintenance burden.
The reduction in coding and complexity leads to a general reduction in testing time. And with Java CAPS, your deployment effort is significantly reduced because of the close integration between the development and deployment environments. |

Monitoring and Managing Java SE 6 Platform Applications
An application seems to run more slowly than it should or more slowly than it did previously, or the application is unresponsive or hangs. You may encounter these situations in production or during development. What is at the root of these problems? Often, the causes -- such as memory leaks, deadlocks, and synchronization issues -- are difficult to diagnose. Version 6 of the Java Platform, Standard Edition (Java SE) provides you with monitoring and management capabilities out of the box to help you diagnose many common Java SE problems. |
