This extended hours course covers all the base terminology and technology associated with video conferencing and an introduction to Cisco's TelePresence video solution for H.323, SIP and TIP video communication. Products included in this training are C-series endpoints, VCS, CUCM Call Manager, MCUs and TelePresence Management Suite (TMS). Participants will gain in-depth practical knowledge with exercises on installing, configuring, maintaining and basic troubleshooting of the equipment. Advanced topics in this course include complex video network environments with firewall traversal, clustering, zoning and subzoning. In addition, students will use functions of the VCS to control access and bandwidth and use transforms, call policy and FindMeTM. Students will use TMS and VCS to provision SIP video and Jabber Video users, and will use CUCM Call Manager to provision SIP audio and video.

  • The class typically runs from 9:00am to 6:00pm on Monday through Friday.

Skills Gained

At the end of this course students will be able to install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot a basic Telepresence network including endpoints, MCUs, TMS and VCS. Students will understand advanced features of VCS and will be able to provision H.323, SIP and TIP on the VCS and CUCM Call Manager as appropriate.

  • Locate support documentation for the Cisco TelePresence System Codec C90, as well as install, operate, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Codec C90.
  • Describe call control protocols for Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server (VCS), as well as install and configure basic registration capabilities and troubleshoot the Cisco VCS.
  • Locate support documentation for the Cisco TelePresence MCU Series,as well as install, operate, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot MCUs.
  • Install, operate, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot the Cisco TelePresence Management Suite (TMS).
  • Understand basic video communication settings in CUCM Call Manager.
  • Configure a Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server for subzones, zones, complex dial plans and security requirements.
  • Use the Cisco Telepresence Management Suite and Cisco TelePresence Communication Server to provision SIP video and Jabber Video clients.
  • Use the CUCM Call Manager to provision SIP audio and video clients.
