Copy of Promote Your IT Skills With Mirantis Training Badges

Self-promotion is necessary for IT professionals to get noticed at their place of employment and when looking for work. Mirantis, the industry leader for developing training courses in container technology and cloud infrastructure management platforms, is now offering digital badges so IT professionals can visually promote their achievements. Cloud and container technology skills are in high demand, and the digital badges provide learners a way to share their hard-earned credentials on resumes, peer community sites and across social media platforms.

For every Mirantis course and corresponding lab you take and complete, Mirantis will award you a digital badge. And for those IT professionals who complete a Bootcamp course and corresponding lab, they will be presented with a Bootcamp badge.

What is a Mirantis Digital Badge?

Digital badges, sometimes referred to as micro credentials, are visual representations that highlight competencies. While they are digital, they typically look like traditional badges, which are displayed as an emblem to represent an accomplishment or symbol of authority. Each digital badge you acquire earns you acknowledgement for your achievement and gets you one step closer toward becoming certified in your area of expertise.

Learning Tracks

Mirantis has five different learning tracks: three Cloud Native Computing Learning Tracks and two OpenStack Learning Tracks. To see which track is right for your job role, please refer to the role based learning track diagram below.

Cloud Native Computing Learning Track

The three Cloud Native Computing Learning Tracks are Kubernetes Operations, Kubernetes Development and Mirantis Cloud Native Platform. Let’s look at each of them in detail.

Kubernetes Operations

Kubernetes Operations contains five different courses:

For each one of those courses you complete, that means completing the theory and the lab, you will earn a badge. For example, if you take the Docker Containerization Essentials course, you’ll earn a Docker Containerization Essentials badge.

The five-day Kubernetes Operations — Cloud Native Operations Bootcamp (CN251) provides rapid training on containerization and consists of three courses:

The Kubernetes Operations — Cloud Native Operations Bootcamp course is for DevOps Engineers, Kubernetes Administrators, Infrastructure Engineers, and Security Specialists. Taking the Kubernetes Operations — Cloud Native Operations Bootcamp will get you a badge of the same name. Rather than taking the bootcamp, if you prefer to take the courses individually, each includes its own lab, upon course completion you’ll obtain a badge named for the course you took. After completing either the bootcamp or the three individual courses, you’ll need to take only one more course — either Advanced Kubernetes Operations or Advanced Kubernetes Security — and pass an exam to earn certification. If you want to become a Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), you’ll also need to take the Advanced Kubernetes Operations (CN320) course and pass the Certified Kubernetes Administrator Exam. If you want to obtain a certification in Kubernetes Security, you’ll also need to take the Advanced Kubernetes Security (CN330) course and pass the Certified Kubernetes Security Exam.

Kubernetes Development

Kubernetes Cloud Native Development Bootcamp (CN252) consists of three courses:

You may choose to take those courses separately and obtain a badge for each one, or you can expedite your training in the five-day bootcamp, for which you will earn the Kubernetes Cloud Native Development Bootcamp badge.

Mirantis Cloud Native Platform

The four-day Mirantis Cloud Native Platform Bootcamp (CN253) consists of four courses:

For each one of the above individual courses you complete, including the lab, you will earn an individual badge. If you take them in the Mirantis Cloud Native Platform Bootcamp, you will obtain the Mirantis Cloud Native Platform Bootcamp badge. You need to take the above four courses and pass the Docker Certified Associate Exam to become a Docker Certified Associate.

Earning a Badge Under the OpenStack Learning Track

Within the OpenStack Learning Track, there are two different tracks you may take:

Mirantis OpenStack (MOS) for Kubernetes
OpenStack Operations

Let’s look at each of them.

MOS for Kubernetes

The learning track for MOS for Kubernetes consists of five courses:

For each one of the above individual courses you complete, including the lab, you will earn an individual badge. The Mirantis Container Cloud Bootcamp (CN 254), a five-day course, consists of the first three courses above. After completing the MCC Bootcamp and corresponding labs, you will earn the Mirantis Container Cloud Bootcamp badge.

Although not included in the bootcamp, the last two courses in the above bulleted list are the final two courses needed to complete the MOS for Kubernetes Learning Track.

OpenStack Operations

The learning track for OpenStack Operations consists of three courses:

For each of those three individual courses you complete, including the labs, you will earn a badge. The five-day OpenStack Administration Bootcamp (OS250), for Infrastructure Engineers, consists of two of courses listed above: OpenStack Essentials and OpenStack Administration & Operations. Upon completing that bootcamp, you will earn your OpenStack Administration Bootcamp badge. After you complete the bootcamp, or take the two courses it consists of individually, and the third course mentioned above, Advanced OpenStack Deployment, you may then take the Certified OpenStack Administration Exam to become a Certified OpenStack Administrator.
